I really would like to start utilizing this wonderful plot and get it back going. I think it's wonderful. And I would definitely love to plot.

I'm all for that, too. What can I do to help? I may not be the fastest to reply to threads, but I'll get it done eventually.

So we've got a group wanting to start something and none of us have any real ideas.
Hmm...
Where are we in the Main Ideal for this world? What time frame are we in? What events are taking place in the movement of progress to getting the 'steampunk' factor in the lives of those living in Elysia?
Are we still in the basic stages of introducing our characters or...can we do more to get things going?

Hell, I'd just like to see some stuff going on. I would love to advance my character a bit, maybe even have him develop magic a ways down the road, but I can't really do that if I don't see any real posting done for weeks at a time. Maybe one of us should start some sort of really awesome RP thread where we can get the ball rolling, so to speak.

If nothing else, I'm seeing four players with State characters, which means we should be able to function together much easier. I know I haven't done a lot, so I'm still figuring out my character, but that doesn't mean I can't get involved in something bigger.
I think we're all looking for a way to start the action or get in on it, whatever that action might be. Where would we like this to take place? And do we have any idea what we might want to do?

I'm sort of in the stages of introducing my character. I mean...I know what I want to do with her. I know who she is. But you are right. We have four people for the state, we could easily have them know each other. So! How about we all take a moment in this thread to tell each other about our characters so that we are familiar with each of them. Then brainstorm a general idea that will evolve all of them meeting in one place some how. Like some sort of special event.

Great idea!
Isabella Rachelle Alexandrine, courtesan. She's just starting to get into a position where she can make use of her skills. Her mother trained her from a younger age to study everything, be competitive, and do everything she can to advance her status. Isabella also has an addiction to opiates, since that is how her mother maintained control over her upbringing. (There's more to this, but that's the basic idea right now.)
Isabella's basic goal currently to so strike allegiances with others. Should she make a few allies, she will feel things are going in proper direction.

My character is still where he left off after my initial RP post with my profile, so he's on a train en route to the capital.
Alistair is a loose combination between Ewan MacGregor's character in Moulin Rouge and my own rendition of a stereotypical nosy journalist. He isn't too big a fan of the current state of Elysium but knows that he isn't going to be able to make much difference there, so he's content with writing his thoughts on paper for people to either ignore or forget. The two books that I mentioned in his biography are titled Introspection of an Introvert and Nepheline Nights, the former a short novel about a man's life in Idola's Tephroiite district (loosely based on his own limited experiences at the time; he was 13 when he wrote it) and the latter a 32-chapter classic romance set in its namesake: The Nepheline district of Idola. If anyone who meets Alistair wants to incorporate the books, perhaps as something that they've read and enjoyed/hated, you're welcome to.

I'm loving this idea.
Rhia is a class act. Knowledgeable in most trading transactions, social prowess and flitty to boot. She's never had issues with getting her hands dirty but at all times keeps to her proper etiquette. Presently I've got her at the Burvelle estate deep in thought of a current invention being produced. To her it's mid evening and her supper is getting cold in the kitchen. As for socially, she's not got many friends as she finds it hard to trust anyone but once she has it takes straight up betrayal or death to get out of her loving grip. She's a loose cannon emotionally, many secrets built up inside, but she tries desperately to keep things bound up.
She enjoys theatrics, parks, but doesn't enjoy traveling. She's yet to visit the Empress' courts since she's not been 'brought out'. No lovers, no contenders, so far no competition or violence against her. Rhia is always willing for an adventure though.

Lol. It's my turn now. Alright. This is Florence Tiquin. She is a courtesan like Isabella. Her father spoiled her rotten. Her mother loathed her because of it. She's not that trusting of women because of that though she does have two traveling maids, Cosette and Elke. They're her confidantes and...occasional lovers. Yes, she's bisexual. She prides herself with being beautiful and tries to be well mannered at all times. Though it is harder some times more than others because my Flor is a schizophrenic . She hears five voices. Four of them are very helpful to her. The other..encourages her to harm herself. So she doesn't let many people get too close to her. Only Cosette and Elke know of her mental illness. She loves to laugh. She loves to dance. Flor does dream of falling in love one day but she doesn't think it's that possible for her because she is "crazy." Oh, she's twenty one. And she's -very- paranoid. So....with that out of the way. What's a setting that they all would meet in together?

*blinks*
An inventor/artist/bookwriter's festival at the Empress' expense.
Or a festival in general. It's a bit more laid back then a big masquerade ball and there are many things to do at festivals. Games, rides, food, contests, mingling.
Just throwin that out there.

I knew there was something I didn't mention. Isabella's technically bisexual, but it's more of a function of her willingness to pursue anyone who may be able to advance her further. She's also got a clandestine set of skills, but I don't see that being very important to getting things moving along with a thread.
Speaking of which, I love the idea of meeting at some kind of festival. It's open and the kind of venue where people randomly run into each other.

With it being winter and most of us being higher-class citizens, I'd suggest making it an indoor activity, maybe in some sort of bazaar if it's an art/invention festival.

I vote invention festival. This is a steampunk forum after all; why don't we do something to encourage that.
