Away from the bustle of the outdoor market, and perhaps even the furthest of such lies the Anatase District, the middle class portion of the city. Very few of the higher ranked folk of Elysium can be found here, though some of the lower class dare to mingle within these streets, some even going as far as to frequent a number of the shops, and pubs located amongst these roadways.
The streets, as in the market place, are likewise paved in cobblestones packed into place from years and years of trampling, and being rained upon. Curbs of sidewalks are only vaguely raised, and more often than not simply stumbled over with little recognition. It’s apparent less work went into the Anatase District than the Sericite. Though the conditions of the roadways are of much better quality when compared to the down-trodden streets of the Cat’s Paw.
Anatase is neither here, nor there. The quality of life is much the same, most families are simply scraping to get by, and pay their taxes each month, though others are comfortable within their meager surroundings.
The houses settled upon either side of the thin street ways seem to be well kept - at least to the best of the tenant’s abilities. It’s apparent these moderately sized shacks were well-put-together in the first place, and have been standing for what may as well be centuries with a small amount of help on the owners behalf. The roofs are generally low- some with sagging bows- and the homes lack any sort of basement structure. The houses are supported through a most-inconvenient beam-system, brought about by the “open” floor plan, which lacks most doorways, and important retaining walls. This open floor plan was considered to be a fad of sorts back when the homes were built en masse.
There’d once been a time when the Anatase District had been considered the place to be; more specifically a local pub within the center of the city. Sylph; the pub is located amongst a bustle of houses with a similar exterior, and if one wasn’t looking for it, it would be easy to simply walk past the modest pub. Perhaps it’s “camouflage” could be a contributing fact to it’s popularity. More often than not, outsiders simply walk past, making it the perfect local gathering ground for the middle class folk of Elysium. The interior is as warm, and welcoming as the people inside. It hosts a feeling of familiarity.
The people of Anatase, for the most part, are gracious, and more than happy to sustain their public standing, though they are far less tight knit than the common folk of the Cat’s Paw. There’s a mix of rebels and state supporters within this humble district, and there’s no telling what a night may be like within the streets.
