HISTORY: There's not much known about Darius the Third except for the fact that he had been born within a seaside hamlet to a mother of already six children, and he the youngest. He was spoiled appropriately and named as the prettiest eyed boy within the fishermen's village, and he had an eye for things; an eye that allowed him to perform things no other could. Mayhap simply for the fact he had no fear; bravely rushing out to sea to assist his father whenever possible, but his mother longed for something else entirely for him; to teach him his numbers and letters so that he may appropriately work within Thalasa as a stocker of sorts and support their family. As for what happened? Perhaps more than they could have asked for as Darius was sent off to a school within Thalasa and had soon proved to be an apt pupil, and due to the such, he had been taken in by one man by the name of Delauney; a well known factor by Thalasa's standards.[/blockquote]
It's hard to say what happened then due to Darius' tight lipped way of things. It's said he grew old within Thalasa and thrived on the business of multiple contracts between families of the Soleil Hill but likewise assisting those new to the art of trade. It's said he never forgot about his family and even married a woman from his village and brought her to the city where she beared his children and took his ring. As for the truth? She had was barren; miscarriages a constant and soon passing away with her final attempt of giving him a child. Darius was stricken with grief and soon retired as a factor within Thalasa and used his lump sum to afford himself a cottage and plot of land to be tilled; working more as the trader now and using his mindset of a factor to assist with such. He was a constant with turning down proposals both from traders and the Empress' own questing noblemen and women until the day he had earned word that the hamlet he had been born to had been overtaken by the Empress men and two of his older brothers struck dead within the overtaking. Since then Darius' mind held to one thing only.
Now, many still will deny that this old man with his humble smile and regal looks could be the mastermind behind the sudden disappearances of men, but who knew? With his frequented cottage and busy fields, no one would ever judge him, and in fact come to him for help.
He does have the coin - the power.
ROLE PLAY SAMPLE: Her pleasure. Is that how such things work? Well, perhaps! He wasn't quite sure, and perhaps he truly could be deemed socially awkward because of that. Still, her seemingly child-like smile is quickly met with that boyish one that never quite left Jack's own face; his brows raising and those cornflower blue eyes gleaming with mild amusement. She seemed to stare though. At least at him. Why? He wasn't sure, but then again, why did he stare at these two young women?
Perhaps she was simply taken by the sight of him. There's no doubt he was strange and embarrassing himself every time he took a bite of that muffin or dwelling upon thoughts of himself; of his past life. Perhaps he looked strange with the way he moved about and talked. He wasn't sure what to say most of the time beyond furrowing his brows and frowning, or even smiling; sometimes, at least. His nose wrinkles a slight when she's coming back to her own senses as he had to his own.
"Oh?" He couldn't help but wonder what she did for a living. What sort of employment did this city offer? "May I ask what you do?" He questions her with raised brows and then purses his mouth. "I wouldn't exactly know," he confesses albeit he would soon know of that if Evelyn took him on. His nose wrinkles at her final query. "Oh, not exactly," he confesses and looks toward Alexandria quietly for the moment and back. "I've only been here since last night," he breathes out quickly and lifts one shoulder with a slight shrug of dismissal.
"I suppose you can say that I'm new here." He supposed that was more truth than anything else.
