Isabella Rachelle Alexandrine came from a wealthy family, meaning study, manners, peerage, and poise were all that mattered to her as a child. Her parents instilled her and her sister, Sarah Elizabeth, with the same education and ideals. They knew they were of a better class, resulting in their continued prosperity.
During her studies, Isabella was lured away by her sister and led to an opium den. It took little effort to get Isabella to partake, but Sarah Elizabeth knew what would happen. A few years earlier, their mother did the same thing to Sarah Elizabeth. Once both sisters were notably addicted, their mother issued an ultimatum to both of them: they were to both take on additional studies, else they would be locked in their rooms and would receive no further high.
The studies turned out to not be of an intellectual variety, but focused more on the details of human anatomy. Sarah Elizabeth took her time with her studies, but did not neglect them. Isabella relished in her new realm of learning, both in the nature of the body and in the wonders of her opiates. As the years passed and both girls matured, a steady trend began to emerge, Isabella did what she could to thrive in all her studies, intellectual and vocational; Sarah Elizabeth tried to focus more of her efforts on the intellect.
On her fifteenth birthday, Isabella was summoned by her mother and told the truth of her family and her past. The Alexandrine women had formed a long line of Courtesans, solidifying their status and prosperity. Naturally, both sisters were being trained to carry on that tradition, though Sarah Elizabeth had proven too willful and needed to be reminded who she was meant to be.
Isabella was given an assignment. Regardless of her feelings, she was to cease treating Sarah Elizabeth as a sister and begin to pursue her as a lover. Isabella was repulsed by the notion, but said nothing to contradict her mother; she did not wish to lose the highs she got to feel so very often. Obediently, Isabella began her seduction, fighting against all her instincts. Sarah Elizabeth spurned her advances, immediately knowing what they were.
Pleading, Sarah Elizabeth asked her sister to put aside what their mother had asked of her, had actually asked of both of them. Isabella knew better, just as she had learned that she was better. Her counterargument was simply to state that if Sarah Elizabeth loved her, she had to do what was best for them both.
The next day, Sarah Elizabeth was locked in her room. The only visitor she was permitted was Isabella, who could take her sister anything, so long as Sarah Elizabeth remained locked away. It took months of Isabella trying to gain her sister's favor, of giving slight touches, bringing in small bottles of Laudanum, but she finally broke Sarah Elizabeth will. Once their mother was satisfied with the results, she let Sarah Elizabeth free.
Both sisters became active in social activities, but only as an exercise in persuasion and seduction. For two years, Isabella and Sarah Elizabeth continued their active training, ensnaring those they socialized with by day, and each other by night.
Again, Isabella was called by her mother. She was given another assignment, much like when she seduced Sarah Elizabeth. Her sister was once more the target, but Isabella's task was much different. Given a special ring, Isabella returned to her sister and, in the hushed pleasures of the night, triggered the small injector on the ring, knocking out Sarah Elizabeth. Isabella summoned her mother and the house guards, who took Sarah Elizabeth away.
In the following months, Sarah Elizabeth woke, much from a dream. She was introduced to a Plantation Overseer and they were soon married. Isabella was informed that she was not only ready to be a Courtesan, but something else as well. Isabella had all the makings of an Assassin, ready and waiting to do her mother's will, or, in time, the State's.
ROLE PLAY SAMPLE:
After the day she had, Isabella felt absolutely filthy. She had been taking a walk, hoping to breathe in the taste of fresh air lined with the allure of the Palace. No one bothered to tell her about the vandals racing dirigibles throughout Grand Elysium. One of the pilots dared flush near Isabella, enough to stir the air around her, knocking away her hat.
No gentleman came to offer his aid, even when the hat had gone too far past Isabella's pace to catch up. It is the place of men to run, but I have to maintain my composure. Thus, her head felt bare for the rest of the day, having nothing to cover it aside from her hair.
Upon returning home, Isabella looked around, seeing no one. She heard no one as well, though she knew she was too old for any tests of reflex or determination. It had been a trying enough day and she'd felt like shooting that pilot from the sky, though she had no weapon to shoot with at the time; it was not a good time to test her, provided that person wished to remain breathing at the end of the test.
“Where is everyone?” Isabella said to herself. She disliked the total quiet, preferring to hear something, to feel like there was activity around her. Though it was more menial than she cared to be, Isabella cranked away at a music box, bringing it to life. Elegant sound filled the house and she went to find out why no one was around.
A grain of potting soil fell from her dress and landed in the floor. She took a deep breath, seeing how dirty she'd come to be from the day's activities. It felt scandalous to be in such disarray. Someone needed to draw her a bath at once, though she did not know how long she was willing to wait.
Knocking came from the door, as though someone was trying to get in. No announcement, no reputable presentation. Isabella took a few steps toward the door, keeping her limbs loose. If necessary, she could try to disarm a single assailant, especially if she caught them unaware. As the door opened, her mother and a couple of servants entered. At once, Isabella straightened her posture and said, “Good afternoon, Mother.”
“Good afternoon, Isabella. How was your walk?”
“Dreadful. I've been drenched with dirt and am in desperate need of a bath.”
Isabella's mother glanced at one of servants. “Did you not hear my daughter? Run a bath for her at once. With warm water.”
With a nod, the servant was gone. Isabella smiled at once. “Thank you, Mother.”
“Only what you needed, my dear.” Taking a step closer, Isabella's mother leaned toward her daughter, careful to not get too close. “You should use one of those scented oils your sister sent you for your birthday. You have an important event to attend tomorrow and I would have you at your very best.”
“Naturally, Mother. I know how unwise it would be for me to show myself as anything other than the pinnacle of perfection.”
