HISTORY:[/blockquote]
Twylite was born in the Disapore district to Molly-ann and Oliver Phantom. Her mother was energetic and carefree, and Twylite was the same as her mother, searching for adventure. They had a home near the canal and overlooked the street.
raised in her home, she was scarcely allowed out of the house when she was younger. She would stare out the window and watch the other kids playing in the streets. She grew up learning to play the piano like 'proper' girls were supposed to, and though she enjoyed playing the instrument she wanted to be able to go out and have some friends. Her father became overly protective of her when her mother died when she was six. her father never told her what she died of just that it was a terrible disease that he couldn't find a cure for.
after her mother died her father started to ignore her, and was out of the house more, only coming home to sleep and eat, and even then he sometimes didn't come home. She had many teachers who taught her to read and write, and to be the proper woman so that one day she could be married off to someone of higher status.
As she reached her teens she became rebellious and spoke her mind more than she should have. Her father disciplined her into staying silent unless spoken to. Of course she freely spoke her mind when her father wasn't present and would sneak into the kitchen to speak with the cook. She became friends with the cook and she taught her different recipes and told stories to the girl, only adding to her rebellion. The thing that contradicted this small rebellion was the fact that Twylite was shy and quiet unless, of course she felt far to strongly about something.
Since her father was never around during the day Twylite wandered into her father's study and read his books on anatomy, science and even some alchemy books which she understood. She couldn't tell her father that she had been in his study because she wasn't allowed in the room. He didn't want her to know anything about science or medicine, for some unknown reason. She took books out of the study, being careful to hide the gaps they left on the shelf by adjusting the books around it.
She understood what she was reading and wanted nothing more than to help people and keep them from dieing, like her mother. She over heard a conversation between her father and a collegue of his, they were talking about something that she didn't understand, she only knew that it wasn't good news. They brought up her mother and it was then that she found out what had really happened to her. Her father had used her mother for some sort of experiment, testing out new medicines and such, to the point where she died from the side effects. She learned that he was also experimenting on lower-class citizens, and that was why he was always away, because he was making new medicines, most which were failures.
Twylite was determined to stop her father and help as many people as possible, no matter their class. She studied harder and read more books. She searched the house for secret passages to the streets and soon had the entire place mapped out in her head. She started sneaking out of the house at night and roaming the streets, all the way to the marketplace and around to the lower-class homes. She gained the respect of some of the people in the lower class, and started spending her days visiting them when she wasn't being watched by one of her teachers.
It wasn't until one day, when she was wandering the marketplace that she found out how she could really help the people, especially the ones who couldn't afford medical attention. She walked to a fruit stand and saw that the vendor was a girl about twelve, going down her arm were a bunch of deep bruises and a gash that looked like it was becoming infected due to lack of treatment. Twylite asked the girl if she could see her arm, and after some reluctance the girl agreed. The older female examined the injury and became frustrated wanting to be able to heal the wounds, but unable to because she lacked the supplies and tools. As she was thinking this she didn't realize that the arm was beginning to heal all on it's own. Blinking she realized that she was holding the arm, and that she was the reason for the arm healing. Letting go she looked at the small child with wide eyes and quickly left the stand, and the confused child.
She had reached home and found that one of the cooks children had broken their ankle and they couldn't get a doctor. testing herself Twylite knelt down and thought about mending the broken bone, while she held onto the ankle. She had closed her eyes to concentrate and could feel the energy flowing out of her arms and into the chills ankle. She could feel the bone healing and knew then that she would help anyone who needed it, since she had been reading all her father's books she knew what was what and how the body functioned.
She looked up her mother's history, and her father's and found that both sides of her family had noble birth...and thus some form of magick. On her father's it was healing, though when she looked at the line she noticed it had skipped her father and her grandfather, making her understand why her father couldn't have helped her mother. She had found on her mother's side that she could calm someone with the simplest touch and that her mother had had the ability, passing it on to her. Twylite had laughed at this, knowing that keeping people calm whilst helping them was good, and that the only time she would need to use her calming powers was when she was healing, so she saw no harm in using the talent.
ROLE PLAY SAMPLE:
She looked out the window, brown eyes scanning the streets until she found what she was looking for. She smiled when she saw the children playing a game of tag, their smiles bright and their laughter muffled by the glass, but they still held the carefree aura that not many people had these days.
Sighing the female closed the book that was resting in her hand. She looked down to read the title: Alchemy for beginners. She smiled as she stood. She wasn't too dependent on alchemy, granted she found the subject interesting and entertaining, but couldn't pursue the subject further since her father only had a couple of books in the house and she certainly couldn't buy any, so she read what she could. tucking away a strand of dirty blond hair the female walked into her father's empty study. Her calm demeanor soon changes to tense and cautious as she snuck into the room.
Placing the book back in it's spot she began scanning over the other books that were near it. Seeing one she hadn't read she pulled it off the shelf and hid it the best she could before leaving the room. She headed straight to her room on the second floor and tucked the book away under her mattress before heading to the music room. She had the unfortunate task of piano lessons today, and though she enjoyed playing the instrument, she wanted to go out to the marketplace and help people like she did on her days off. Smiling at what she was secretly doing she found herself thinking about the name she uses when she was in the marketplace; Tip. Her first, middle and last initials. She knew this would keep people from finding out who she was, unless they thought about it for a long while.
Sitting on the piano bench she pulled out a piece of sheet music that was only half filled with notes. She played the written half and then began hitting random keys attempting to find the correct ending to her musical masterpiece. Sighing she gave up and started playing a sad tune that her mother had taught her just before she died, she loved the song and held it close to her heart, only playing it when she was alone.
Finishing the wonderful piece she heard clapping behind her and quickly spun around. There standing in the doorway was her piano instructor, he was smiling at her, his old withered face getting more wrinkles as his smile widened across his face, reaching his eyes. His green eyes were distant and held a lack of adventure, but the determination was still there. "M-Master Alston! I didn't know you were there," the female cried biting her lip nervously.
That was one thing she hated; when her mother had died she went from being a bouncy extroverted child, to a silent and shy introverted one. This resulted in her being unsure of herself at times and easily embarrassed.
"Nonsense Twylite! It was wonderful! Your mother wrote that tune when she was just your age!" The old piano teacher said.
"Now let's begin,"
She wanted to die. She had done the same tunes, same notes and same warm-ups for the past year and all she wanted to do now was either kill herself or find a way to throw the damn piano out the window.
Shaking her head she fell onto her bed before pulling out the book she had taken earlier and started to read. She had to wait until after her father ate dinner-if he showed up- before sneaking out of the house and into the marketplace. She knew that the best time to go was at night, when the sailors were out drinking and the thieves were out trading. She grinned for a moment before there was a knock on the door. "Lady Phantom. Your father sends his apologies, but he won't be back for dinner this evening," A maid said.
Twylite looked at the maid for a moment and then nodded, dismissing the girl.
returning to her book she allowed her thoughts to wander. She wasn't one who basked in fantasies, but the thought of being taken away from this life and setting out on a new adventure excited her. Twylite rolled onto her back and placed the open book pages down on her stomach so she could stare at the ceiling and think. She knew that most girls her age would be thinking about being swept off their feet by a wonderful man, or marrying a rich powerful one. She knew that being seventeen she was going to be 'auctioned off' -as she called it- to the richest man her father could find, meaning that they would also be the oldest man her father could find. She knew by that point she would have to run away, taking the jewelry and as much money as possible, with her.
Letting out a huff she returned to her happier thoughts of being on an adventure, of course she would only go to see new things and start a life of her own, one that didn't involve her father. She frowned, perhaps she could find love then, in the most unexpected place, in the unexpected person.
She glanced outside her window and grinned, she sun was setting and she quickly hid her book before sneaking out of the house.
Smiling she knew she was home free after turning the corner, and that for the rest of the evening she was going to be called Tip, rather than Twylite.
