Thalasa's Halite District alone has been named one of mankind's largest feats since the harnessing of steam power. Considering the port alone and the large scale of such has left many wondering and debating of how long the construction truly had been. As for the answer? No one knows. Why? It's simply for the fact that there would always be construction on Thalasa's bustling port. Truth be told there was no end for whatever may be added to Halite. Why would there be? This was the grand port of them all; the Port of Wonders.
Halite's harbor stretches out far into the ocean; docks of weathered marble standing up against the ravages of time and sea. It's here where merchant ships and military galleys could be found, and even Halite's grand shipyard off-set of the harbor that's bustling with ships docking at all times of the day throughout the entirety of the year. It's truly here where a myriad of people could be found; a true culture shock for anyone to see people of different skin and tongues mingling to barter their wares and make their living with ease. The Port, much like Thalasa's Square, is a place where one must know what they are doing and their destination.
Truth be told, Halite District alone could be an intimidating place to be if one's not accustomed to the hustle and bustle, and even the press of flesh all around. It's filled with various tongues, bartering and arguments between sailors and competition here. That's not even making mention of the drunken brawls that take place when sailors have shore leave; pubs lining the port alongside offices where goods must be brought through customs where they may be overlooked and approved for sale and trade. Let it be known that these men of stature are critical though and the guards making their patrols keep their eye on everything and anything that me be of suspicion.
Thalasa's Halite District is home to the world renown ship yard though; a place where no prying eyes may look in open. It's walled and shielded from the sun and those all around with massive walls and a domed roof to wash off the rain and stand stubbornly against the press of the sea. It's said that there are only a number of engineers who work here day and night on perfecting innovations for sea travel and thensome; all secrets keep toward the government and no one else. Anyone found trespassing here would be arrested or even harmed -- killed -- It's a place not for prying eyes, and people should know well to wander off. It's not within anyone's way though, and even stands out off-set to the harbor and far out at sea - a nigh mile of a walk and leaving anyone who wanders through across the dock open for sharpshooters. It's not only this that lingers within Halite though, or even the massive harbor with bustling ships, captains, sailors and then some.
Halite District is likewise home of a simplistic housing development that had been built from scratch and out of equality for those of Thalasa. Each house stands upon a rise that overlooks the harbor and everything within such, and each house owned by those who had been given a chance through this housing project erected by those of Soleil Hill. It's all of these that makes Halite a mix of wonders and mysteries.
