Thin sidewalks line either side of the open canal that delves deep, past the central square of Thalasa, and into the center of the Diaspore district. There’s still the lingering amount of action, lingering from Thalasa’s Square, tapering off into nothingness.
Along the waterways is a completely different story all together. Docks upon docks of warn wood are filled with the finest of wares, some of which are tapering away from Thalasa’s main square, and some looking to make a bit more money than normally would have been sold on-the-cheap just south of this area.
Traveling food carts stall along the waterways; the freshest of ingredients at their disposal. What normally would have been considered street food is made all the more high-end because of this fact. Small stairways lead down to the waters very edge for people to sit upon and enjoy their simplistic “Street” food, offered up through Jimmy-rigged basket systems so the procurers need not leave the confines of their boats. Eating in such a manner is almost a treat for the upper classed families; relived of the pressures of society. And simply allowed to be, and eat as they wish.
Further uphill, and away from the miniaturized market place lie houses upon houses, all tall and arching, large, well-built buildings, hinted towards their near-ancient origins, with their large stone siding, and chimneys reaching for the cloud-line, billowing both smoke, and steam. The streets are wide, and well-worn with the travels of both foot and carriage, little is left of the lifted cobblestones to stumble over.
Fountains located in the districts main juncture are an attraction of sorts for both locals and foreigners to both meet and hold business meetings here. It’s a distinct area unique to this part of Thalasa; powered by the water which flows some blocks downwards through a series of ridiculously intricate pumps and siphons constructed by the most brilliant minds that Diaspore had to offer many millennia ago. They’re from a time when art was widely spread, and well practiced; from an age of innovation.
Looming some distance behind these fountain systems is a large tower with the face of a clock held high for all to see; bright and polished to a wonderful metallic sheen, the numerals a deep shade of copper to match the intricate hands of the clock. This tower churns with gears and bands of varying sizes and widths, working near-nonstop to keep the people of Diaspore on time and informed of such.
Diaspore has much to offer by way of innovations; the fountains, the clock-tower for all to see. Diaspore is truly all Thalasa has to offer, displayed clearly for all to see.
